At an outstandingly exciting finale to the 63rd Ferrier Competition held at Wigmore Hall on 27th April 2018, 1st Prize was awarded to WILLIAM THOMAS. 23 year old William, the youngest competitor to reach the final rounds, is currently studying on the Masters Programme at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and will continue his studies on the prestigious Opera Course in September. His finals programme included an operatic aria by Rossini as well as works by Rachmaninov, Mussorgsky, Poulenc and Katie Moss. 2nd Prize went to 26 year old JOSEPHINE GODDARD who studies at the Royal College of Music International Opera School. She offered a programme of arias and songs by Duparc, Puccini, Britten and J. Strass II. The Ferrier Loveday Song Prize went to 27 year old CATRIONA HEWITSON. Edinburgh born Catriona won the Song Prize for her rendition of C by Poulenc. From an outstandingly strong field of pianists, 23 year old MICHAEL PANDYA won the Help Musicians UK Accompanist’s Prize. Michael accompanied William Thomas throughout the competition.
